The Oasis out-of-hours drop-in centre
“What makes this work is the support is immediate. There are no waiting lists.”
Judi Page, Director of Just Wellbeing
The Oasis, at 86 Cove Road, is an out-of-hours drop-in service, which provides people with a safe place where they can talk to support staff or to each other. This support has been shown to improve people’s conditions and prevent mental health crises. It opened as a pilot in April 2017 after local people told the area’s health service planners that it was needed, and the success of the service has resulted in continued funding by the North East Hants and Farnham CCG. The service is managed by Salus Medical Services Ltd, and run by Just Wellbeing, which also runs the Young Persons’ Safe Haven, in Aldershot.
Judi Page, Director of Just Wellbeing, said: “It is brilliant news that the funding has been continued. We are getting on average over 280 attendances to the Oasis per month and what makes this work is the support is immediate. There are no waiting lists. To be able to continue to provide such an invaluable service to local people is tremendous.”
The service runs from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, seven days a week. It primarily serves the population of Farnborough and Cove but also welcomes visitors from Aldershot, Frimley and Camberley.
